Global experiment begins today

Towards the end of last year a colleague and I came across a blog post that we found particularly challenging. Central to the post was the question:

What if everything you know is wrong?

The more we thought about it, the more excited we became by the potential this question is capable of unlocking. We began to have very excitable conversations about how this question could enable people to leap into a brand new paradigm in which ideas, products and solutions that don’t yet exist could be conceived. We got excited by the potential of this question to get people through the current economic turmoil into the new economics that will emerge. What if the people we introduced this question to could become leaders and first movers who actually invent the future? What if we could multiply that to thousands of people? The Experiment was born.

Available from today we have put together a weekly programme of exercises that should take each participant about an hour a week. At the end of each week we ask each participant to report back on some simple metrics so that we can begin to collate data on the outcomes of The Experiment. This really is a genuine experiment that we believe will make a huge difference to those who participate. The administration fees have been kept as low as possible to make The Experiment accessible to as many people as possible.

So this is your invitation to join us and to spread the word and to find out where this journey leads.

Why do I need a business coach?

Business success can be defined in many ways : Profit, revenue, social impact, wealth, richness etc.. But to reach a level that satisfies your own personal definition of what success is, and indeed knowing when you have achieved this level of success demands decisions about real life problems and concerns that face you. It is unlikely that these problems and concerns are simple, and often involve complex situations to explore and understand prior to taking the next decision to reach your success.

Often these complex and ambiguous problems have several solutions, some of which are obvious but perhaps not the best solution for your business environment. As you are living and breathing your role, you may not have the time to explore hidden options for whatever reason thereby missing an opportunity to take your business area forward further and help to exceed your success criteria.

A business coach brings a 3^rd party, and non-biased understanding of your world offering a focussed challenge to your immediate issues, allowing time for you to explore in a safe environment the different options that could be open to you to take. A business coach will help you to explore the real issues, understand the real reasons and make real judgements based on a neutral coach guided exploration.

The outcome is one of improved simplicity, better decisions, perhaps re-energising the motivation, and improved focus leading to improved business return.

Mindfulness Exercise

Find a quiet place to sit for about 10 to 15 minutes, away from disturbances and turn your mobile phone off. If it helps in the session, you may decide to close your eyes.

Slowly and quietly breath through your nose for 8 breaths and feel every part of your body from your toes to the top of your head, and realise the sensations occuring as you do this.

Slowly, turn your attention to your thoughts and let them come and go as you feel the tensions disapear.

Celebrate the feelings, the visions and the energy as you again feel the slowness of your breathing.

Enjoy the sensation of being alive, and slowly as you feel your mind drifting, come back to concentrate on your breathing again.

Keep the breathing pattern as you slowly open your eyes and explore the amazing things that are going on for you.

Introduction of new onsite store

Great news – as opposed to having to trawl to another website for your coaching products, all our team and development tools are being introduced onto this main Wheresmylunch website.

We will be bringing across not only specific tools, and but also some pretty heavy weight psychometrics delivered and with feedback provided by Level A and Level B qualified practitioners. These psychometrics include the Aston Business Assessments new TRAIT development tool, NEO PI(R) – based on the big 5 leadership domains, as well as several aptitude tests.

Change in organisation offer

Followers of the Wheresmylunch website will have noticed that the structure of this site has changed over the past few weeks as we incorporate not only the online store into the main website so that your experience is better, but also that our offering is becoming wider.

This reflects some work completed in July evaluating what Wheresmylunch actually do, and how we can communicate what we do more succinctly to our existing and potential customers.

What this means is that we have now split our offerings into four elements. These four elements form a cyclical process that can be stepped onto and off at whichever stage you require but the complete process offers re-enforcement, and sustainable business and personal improvement.

The four elements are

Analyse – this is the ‘what is going on’ bit and several tools are used to help understand the current position and desired end state.
Acquire – this element is about skills acquisition. Delivered either in a workshop or course structure, with elements of 1 on 1 mentoring available for certain skill areas including sales, finance, customer service and operations.
Develop – there is a degree of overlap as we believe in experiential development, however, this element is focused on the development of the person within the organisation and the impact that they have as well as considering organisational improvement.
Celebrate – the fun element and leads to sustainable positive work practices.

Over the forthcoming months more tools, capabilities are being introduced into the portfolio to help keep Wheresmylunch the ‘goto’ place for organisational improvement and development.

Leadership and Management Development Grants

Grants of up to £1000 are now available for the development of organisational leaders and managers in companies based in the East and West Midlands. This is time limited and we would advise pursuing this as soon as possible to secure fund matching offer. There are some conditions that apply so please have a read below.

ARE YOU ELIGIBLE?

Organisations with 2 -249 full time and paidemployees, including social enterprises and charities can apply
- In organisations with under 50 employees, the applicant must be the CEO, MD or Owner
- In organisations with 50 employees+ the applicant can be either one of the above or a role that reports directly into any of the above roles
The funding must be used for Leadership & Management development such as
- 1:1 coaching or
- an appropriate leadership or management development programme.
The organisation must be going for growth of 20% year on year for 3 years. Start ups (established less than 12 months) must be projecting turnover to reach £500K in 3 years; social enterprises are required to project growth of 10% each year for 3 years.

Please note: It cannot be used for anything that might be considered technical i.e. training towards ISO or the environment award, tender writing, IT, website construction, social media, health & safety, CPD.

HOW DO I APPLY?

The funding is being managed by EMB Limited. Wheresmylunch can work with you in completing the necessary paperwork to apply for the grant.
Once the team are satisfied you have met the criteria an EMB Advisor will talk with you to carry out a diagnosis to understand what help you need. This is a pretty straightforward process. At this point you will be asked whether you have a provider already.
Companies and applicants that have accessed the grant previously CAN apply for this grant again
The value of the grant is up to a maximum of £1000 exc VAT and all grant amounts must be matched by your organisation. Eg – if you want to access £1000 then you need to pay £1000 giving you a total of £2000 for development.
You are limited to one application per organisation so even if you only apply for £500 you cannot apply again later for the rest.
Before funding is released you must identify the supplier you will use.
Grants cannot be claimed retrospectively.
Wheresmylunch will invoice you for the full amount of the intervention, and you will be reimbursed by receiving the grant after your programme has been completed.
