This element is about skill transfer. It is about having identified a gap in an individuals skillset or organisational capability taking direct action to plug the gap. This could be essential in the ongoing rounding of experience as a member of staff becomes more senior, but likewise could be about providing a basic level of training or refresher, such as negotiation training, to a sales team.
This element can be delivered either in a closed or open workshop environment considering an individual or team that needs to increase their skill level. It could be delivered as a ‘tell’ style workshop although our preference to ensure sustained change is linked into experiential learning (Experiential learning is about taking new skills and applying them directly into real life experiences and reflecting on the outcomes achieved).
At a presentation level, a small group could work together to challenge how they work and in this case, the presenter shares new skills and then facilitates the application. Typical assignments have included improvement on coaching skills, multicultural awareness, negotiation and presentation skills courses as well as extending the individual through consultative skills.
At an individual level, this could be where a mentor type 1 on 1 relationship is required. Perhaps there is a requirement for someone wiht customer services understanding or perhaps an accountant? Maybe its a sales manager who is need of a guide and discussion or perhaps its an operations manager?
